OUR MISSION

Conservation, Sustainability, Mental Health & Happiness

THE ANNAPOLIS BAYGRASS MUSIC FESTIVAL MISSION:

To deliver a unique, environmentally-friendly, alternative bluegrass music festival, offering joy to attendees and artists alike, while providing education and funding to protect and restore the Chesapeake Bay and raise mental health awareness.

The Baygrass philosophy is to help people learn about conservation, sustainability and mental health – in a way that combines education and fun.

Protect and Restore the Chesapeake Bay

You’ll experience immersive education through workshops, information booths, Bay-focused art and photography, songs performed about protecting the Bay, and even having locally sourced food and beverages to “taste the Bay.”

By supporting Annapolis Baygrass, you’re helping to protect this important body of water that affects 19 million people in six states within the Chesapeake Bay Watershed and supports over 3,600 species of fish, wildlife, and plants.

Part of all proceeds from ticket, food, beverage, and merchandise sales will go to Maryland-based non-profit organizations including Watershed Stewards Academy, Oyster Recovery Partnership, and Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay.

As we like to say: “Every Jam Saves the Bay.”

Mental Health Awareness and Education: Harmonizing Minds

To increase mental health awareness and provide the public with wellness resources and tools, Baygrass has partnered with the VA Way.  Army veteran and Baygrass co-founder, John Way, leads the VA Way, a non-profit championing mental health advocacy.

Baygrass proudly supports this mission of musical healing connection and the aim to dismantle mental health stigma by providing education and resources during the festival through non-profit booths, workshops, announcements, yoga, dancing, music and community.

Green Practices

With a mission to help protect and restore the Chesapeake Bay, and a philosophy to leave places better than you found them, Baygrass has built a team of environmental professionals to design the festival that limits the environmental impact of putting on this event.`

In our first year we implemented multiple Green Initiatives that have never been done by other festivals at Sandy Point or other events in the Maryland Park system. We exceeded our expectations, and impressively there was widespread participation in our green initiatives by attendees, staff and volunteers resulting in one of the cleanest music festivals in the country.

Thank you and let’s do it even better in 2024!
